Important information for the end of Year 1 and beginning of Year 2!

Hi everyone, 1st, Thank you for following this Podcast through to the end of year 1. We really appreciate your support. Year 2 will begin next week and there will be one episode or chapter on Monday and one on Thursday from now on, as each episode or Chapter is about 25-30 min long, so a bit more than the episodes in year 1.

2nd, If you are interested to see a few pictures and videos of some the places and people we talk about in the Podcasts, including John Smith himself, there is a Youtube link on my Buzzsprout Podcast website which will take you directly to the Travels with John Smith playlist.
There are a few short videos and sIideshows of Hong Kong, Wuhan, Cambodia, Beijing and Shanghai.

To find the link, go to the Buzzsprout web address. You can find the link on the transcript or is https://travelswithjohnsmith.buzzsprout.com . On the main page of the podcast, on the red background above the picture, there are 3 buttons. Looking at the screen, the button on your left, takes you to my instagram, the one on the right to my music website; www.pattilayne.net and the one in the middle to my Youtube channel, specifically to the youtube playlist. It is unlisted so you can only get into it in this way. Hope that wasn’t too complicated.

3rd. I would like to share the song ‘Wuhan Crazy’ with you. You will recognize the opening guitar lick from the beginning of each episode of the Podcast. It’s time to hear the whole song. It took me a long time to write it but most of the things I talk about in the song, we saw in the 1st year of living in Wuhan.

I wanted to describe some the crazy, wonderful stuff you might see on any given day in Wuhan even though it’s hard to cover it in one song.

Every city in China has a slogan and Wuhan’s slogan is ‘Wuhan, different every day’, or in Chinese; ‘Wuhan meitian bu yang’.

This song is once again recorded and produced by the talented Simon (Youkuan) Yang. He plays all the instruments in this recording and I do all the singing. I write the songs and he always makes them sound better. Here it is;

Wuhan Crazy-written by Patti Fedrau (Layne)

(Verse 1)

The taxi hits a traffic jam & he leans into his horn

Then he drives up on the sidewalk & I hold on to the door

The people on the sidewalk, move out of his way

Nobody seems that bothered, It’s like any other day

Living in Wuhan, Crazy, Lovin’ it, Wuhan, Crazy

(Verse 2)

There’s pretty girls on motorbikes, their legs off to the side

Stilettos almost touch the ground, driving through red lights

Nobody wears a helmet, there’s a family of five

The mother feeds her baby, on the back of the bike

Living in Wuhan, Crazy, Every day Wuhan  Crazy

(CHORUS)

DEEP IN THE HEART OF CHINA

WHERE 10 MILLION PEOPLE LIVE

LIKE A WILD CHILD   WHO NEVER TAKES A BREAK OR A COWBOY TOWN
THAT NEVER SETTLES DOWN

WUHAN  IS DIFFERENT, EVERY DAY, WE LOVE WUHAN, CRAZY, EVERY DAY

(Verse 3)

Under their umbrellas, hiding from the sun

There’s acid rain, pollution and a whole lot of dust

Grannies parade their babies, teach them to have fun

At night they dance in parks and squares for everyone

Living in Wuhan, Crazy, We love Wuhan, Crazy

(Verse 4)

Look outside and it might look like it’s the end of the world

Construction never finishes, there’s always something new

In the summertime it gets so hot, you feel like you’re in hell

The people talk loud and they’re curious, always ready to help you out

Living in Wuhan  Crazy, Every day Wuhan is Crazy

Repeat CHORUS
